The Real Hannah Montana

I am in NC right now and so far, so good. It's nice and warm, not as green as MN, people at Walmart were friendly (where else do you go to check out the town's vibe?), everyone talks funny -I feel like I have to talk with a southern drawl. I'm waiting at my hotel for the realator to call and show me around. Interviews tomorrown a.m. and I checked out the hospital - it's nice - not Mayo Clinic - but nice. So, anyway, here's some catching up with pics:

Hannah in the airport getting ready to fly for the first time - she did great.

Spence graduated...with honors (much to his surprise when they announced it). CHS: the best 5 years of his life:)

Nate in wranglers and suspenders - scary I know, but we happened to visit in prime lambing season and so Nate spent alot of time out helping with the sheep. And when in Rome...

Moving to the Tarheel State

Well, it's official!...actually, not quite, but close enough. Nate received the unofficial job offer at Monroe Early College High School in Monroe, NC, as a 9-12 Social Studies Teacher. The only thing left to do before they can offer him the contract is to have the school board approve him (which apparently they always do). That will happen Monday. I'm so excited for Nate to begin his education career. And we're so excited to be moving to beautiful NC - now all we have to do is sell this house. Ugh....not even a single offer yet.

"I wish I had _____" mode

Sometimes, I look around and feel like everyone's life is more glamorous than mine. I start to think "oh if only I had ____ or could do _____." I hate the way thinking like that makes me feel. It yields an ungrateful attitude and puts me in a bad mood. I could be a very materialistic person if I let myself and I think Satan really tries to prey on this weakness to make me unhappy. My mom sent me this book for Mother's Day. It's by Gordon B. Hinckley and it is so beautiful and uplifting. It's my kind of book - one that you can read and focus one page a day. So, whenever I start to go into my "I wish I had _____" mode, I will pick up this book and read a few pages and center myself around things in life that actually matter and make me truly happy. Thank you so much Mom!

April snow/ice storms bring...

Nate graduates in 21 days!! Yep, this soon-to-be Winona State University Alumni is about to privilege the real world with his mad education skills...and I could not be more proud of him! For the last 3 years, Nate has gone to school full-time (Winona is about 45 minutes away), worked full time, fulfilled church callings (one of which was early-morning seminary teacher)and has been a full time husband/dad. He is graduating Magna cum laude and was selected to demonstrate the proper interview technique with an area principal on stage in front of the whole graduating class yesterday! I think any school district would be hard-pressed to find a teacher as talented and passionate as Nate is - we'll let you know who is lucky enough to hire him. What a stud!

In other news, Hannah can sit up now! Not to the point where I can leave her alone on a hard surface, but on a bed/in the crib, etc - no problem. At 5 months/1 week, girlie can hold her own for a good 45 seconds...or until she starts concentrating on playing with a toy...EVERYTHING goes directly into her mouth and I'm pretty sure she ate some magazine yesterday while I was doing my hair. She has also developed a "fake cough," which is quite interesting (I have it on video, but am STILL not having much luck posting). She's having SOO much fun practicing her newly-acquired little skill ALL DAY. AGH - when people tell you they grow SO fast, it's true!

I got a new camera yesterday so hopefully the awful coloring you see in the above picture will be a thing of the past. The Fuji served us well....up until the end when 40% of all my pictures were blurry or bad coloring. Anyway, I told the guy at Best Buy that I wanted a SIMPLE camera that I could just put on an automatic setting that took CLEAR pictures. We got a Panosonic Lumix and I'm so excited to start using it. The below pic, of Hannah busting a move watching Americal Idol, was taken with it.

I am thrilled that Beyonce and Jay-Z finally tied the knot. They are one of my favorite star couples because they are so talented, down-to-earth, and private. Let's hope they make it a lifetime!
